Artist's Description
Featured is an exotic made up yellow bird wearing a tie in the millefleurs (many flowers). He is a bit paunchy as his stomach folds over his legs. This is an illustration, perhaps for a child or father's day.
He is part of "the millefleurs series" I have been working on, plus "the exotic bird series" art I have been making.
The original is without the border design and is an ACEO (made to fit in a mat 2.5" x 3.5"). It is for sale. Contact me if interested. Note: ACEOs usually sell more quickly than other kinds of original art, so it may or may not still be available.
SYMBOLISM:
* yellow bird: high energy, hope, ebullience
* tie: knuckling down, focusing, gentility, formality, business, authority
* informal tie: fun, pretending to do business, poking fun at formality and business
* millefleurs: abundance, growth, fertility, creativity, freedom from hunger, heightened respect for nature
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
