Description
This is a piece I made to bring awareness to sibling bullying. Sibling bullying is the most common form of bullying, and is usually prevalent in toxic families where there is a favorite golden child and a disfavored picked on (sometimes rejected) scapegoat. Scapegoating is prevalent in alcoholic families, and with families who are headed by a parent figure with Narcissistic Personality Disorder or Antisocial Personality Disorder.
This piece is part of a blog I write on abuse awareness called "Misadventures with Angry Alcoholics, Bullies and Narcissists": http://angry-alcoholics.blogspot.com/ Specifically, the piece was featured in this post: http://angry-alcoholics.blogspot.com/2015/02/sibling-abuse-and-sibling-bullying.html
In this piece, the scapegoat is silent (as many of them are expected to be in toxic abusive families). All kinds of derisive labels are attributed to him by his golden child brother including dweeb, gross, black sheep, cry baby, etc. The golden child, meanwhile, feels special in that he knows how to manipulate other people to get them to like him more than his brother. While not all golden children bully their siblings, Dr. Ramani Durvasula claims that about half of them do.
This piece was created using watercolor paints and then overlay-ed with digital type (graphics).
