I made this piece out of interest in French folk design. It is an original design, and an original piece of art work. As is usual with French folk art, I use a number of kinds of leaves and ferns, plus a Zebra plant leaf (I had to have that in there!) as though they were all grafted together by a master gardener at Versailles!
This piece can go with an oriental red carpet. The piece also has a little texture like an old tapestry might have to help with the matching of old style rugs and furniture. If you want an old world kind of design with a lot of fine details and butterflies, this might be your ticket. This piece would go great in a Victorian house, or a house with old style furnishings.
Mint green, whites, chartreuse and reds dominate.
As for symbolism, white butterflies typically mean protection, the souls of the departed watching over you, luck.
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
