Artist's Description
This is a fantasy landscape with white puffy trees, a moon in the distance lighting everything up, all within a Celtic-like border design or window. The border design features orange flowers tree branches and limbs, some vines and a loose style knotting or weaving around the outside.
The landscape is inspired by Cambridge, NY, of Washington County, the food basket for Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties. In the day time there are usually cows, or horses, or sheep, or deer, or llamas in those fields.
The fantasy element here are the wispy cotton ball-like trees.
Dark greens, light greens, dark blues, white and dark brown dominate.
I have done very few landscapes without animals or fantasy creatures as a main focal point in them, but thought I would try one. It has been on my mind for awhile, especially since I paint the backgrounds in this kind of style, or similar style.
Painting borders is part of my signature style, left over from m...
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...

Lise! This moonlight scene is just beautiful! I want to walk right into it and dream away. It reminds me of dreams of Marin's own hills out here in the west, and the nighttime walks I often there took long ago. Leaving out animals this time made it open to fantasy; such as "What wonderful stories may happen from this magic landscape?" Very nice.
Lise Winne replied:
Thank you. Not Used to this. Seems like it needs animals! LOL
