This piece is inspired by Renaissance tapestries featuring millefleurs.
A ruby throated hummingbird comes to drink the nectar of some red flowers while a white butterfly hovers overhead. Perhaps it is a muse.
Featured flowers include black eyed susans, clovers, hummingbird nectar flowers, dandelion greens, little blue flowers, and many other flowers. Little white dots (pollen) float through the garden.
Millefleurs in French mean "many flowers" or "a million flowers", take your pick.
The original is for sale at this time and is approximately five inches times six inches and is framed in a gold frame with archival glass and archival mats. Inquire if interested.
symbolism:
- hummingbird: joy, luck
- white butterfly: messages from the spirit, purity
- millefleurs: plenty, luxury
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
